GFA President Announces Major Investment in Colts Football and Youth Development
Ghana Football Association President Kurt Edwin Simeon-Okraku has announced a wide range of investments and initiatives aimed at improving Colts football and creating stronger development pathways for young footballers across the country. Speaking at the 32nd Ordinary Congress on Thursday, August 20, 2026, at the Ghanaman Soccer Centre of Excellence (GSCE) in Prampram, Okraku reaffirmed the association’s commitment to grassroots football and revealed that the 2026 Colts Football Season will officially be launched in Accra on September 8, 2026.
What Happened?
The GFA President announced a series of initiatives aimed at improving Colts football and creating stronger development pathways for young footballers. The initiatives include coach education, youth competitions, player registration, football equipment, and opportunities for young players to develop their talents. The GFA has spent GHS 1.8 million over the past two seasons to train 600 Colts coaches through the GFA-funded CAF Licence D Coaching Programme.

The GFA will also continue its investment in football equipment, committing another US$100,000 towards the purchase of footballs for second-tier, third-tier, and Women’s Division One League clubs.
