Ghana's Antoine Semenyo has received a nomination for the PFA Premier League Fans’ Player of the Month award for September. The Manchester City striker is among six players selected following a successful period in the league.
Semenyo's September form
The attacker featured in all three of his club's league games during the month, with his team winning each one. He found the net on two occasions and set up two more goals in matches against Coventry City, Manchester United and Sunderland. He created the decisive goal against Coventry and was a key figure in a high-scoring victory over Sunderland, where he scored a brace and provided an assist.
The competition and vote
Others on the shortlist include Brighton's Pascal Groß and Charalampos Kostoulas, Liverpool's Alexander Isak and Jérémy Jacquet, and Kevin Schade of Brentford. The recipient is chosen through a mix of public voting and input from a specialist panel. The voting period ends on Monday, September 28, and the result will be revealed on Friday, October 2. Semenyo previously won this award in February.
For Ghana, Semenyo's performances for his club are encouraging as the national team looks ahead. The Black Stars' recent form includes a loss to Colombia, marking one win, two draws and two losses in their previous five matches. Their next game is at home against Somalia in November. Semenyo will aim to translate his club success to the international stage when the team gathers again.
